CRAWFORD COUNTY (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—As the election season approaches, Crawford County Now is offering all local candidates a platform to articulate their visions for the offices they seek.

The initiative aims to ensure that voters are well-informed about the priorities and plans of those seeking election. Candidates who are running unopposed, may submit a 250-word vision they would like to share with the voters.

Candidates interested in participating can respond to a set of three questions tailored to their respective offices.

All responses must be submitted by October 30, 2025, at 4 p.m. Send your responses to rbigley@ncomediagroup.com. Participants must submit their answers with their name, address, and the office they are contesting.

For those running for Mayor, the questions focus on the city’s immediate needs, long-term economic vision, and performance assessment of current city department heads:

1. Immediate Needs: What do you consider the city’s most immediate needs and how do you plan to address them?
2. Economic Vision: What is your long-term economic vision for the city?
3. Managing Departments: How would you assess the performance of current city department heads?

City Council candidates, including those vying for the position of Council President, have their own set of questions:

1. Budgeting Priorities: If elected, what are your priorities for the city’s approach to budgeting issues?
2. Attracting Business: What are your thoughts or ideas to attract new business to the city, and what barriers to economic development do you perceive?
3. Collaboration and Communication: How do you plan to work with other members of the council to achieve common goals, and how will you communicate your plans to constituents?

Candidates for the school board are also invited to respond to important questions regarding educational issues:

1. Top Issues: What are the top three issues facing your district, and how will you work to address them?
2. Budget Concerns: What are the biggest budget concerns, and how would you address them?
3. Parental Involvement: How do you view the role of parents in reviewing and influencing instructional materials, and are you satisfied with the current curriculum in your district?

Candidates are reminded to limit their responses to each question to 250 words and to maintain a respectful tone throughout. Write-in candidates should provide details on how voters can support them.

This initiative by Crawford County Now is aimed at fostering transparency and engagement between candidates and voters in the lead-up to the elections.
