CRESTLINE – Local business owner, Joe Dzugan, wants to support the community and his fellow local business owners by sponsoring a clinic that offers a free margarita to the first 100 guests that get a COVID-19 vaccine on May 5, 2021, at Mi Cerrito Mexican Restaurant, 216 N. Seltzer St., Crestline, Ohio.
“Small businesses have been hit hard during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is time for us to just do what needs to be done to get everything opened back up and allow us to enjoy our lives again. Getting vaccinated has everything to do with saving lives, saving businesses, and local economics,” Dzugan states.
“When Health Commissioner Kate Siefert reached out to me as a corporate sponsor and the idea ‘Get The Shot, Get A Shot’ to bring people into our local bars/restaurants while getting their vaccine, I was all set to help. That’s what we need to do – take the vaccine to where the people are while also supporting our local businesses,” explains Dzugan. “We then took that idea and decided Cinco de Mayo was the perfect opportunity to partner with Mi Cerrito in Crestline to showcase their restaurant.”
Crawford County Public Health is offering this free walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinic for those age 18 and older at Mi Cerrito Mexican Restaurant in Crestline, Ohio on May 5, 2021, from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm during Happy Hour, or while supplies last. The first 100 people that are age 21 and older that get vaccinated during the clinic will be provided with a Mi Cerrito coupon for a free margarita that night, sponsored by Dzugan Real Estate Services.
No appointment is needed and you do not need to preregister. You do not need to bring along any insurance information either. There are up to 300 doses of vaccine available. The clinic will end early if all vaccines are distributed before 5:00 pm. The clinic will be offering both Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine as well as the Moderna vaccine. People will be able to choose which vaccine they receive. A follow-up clinic will be held in a month to ensure all participants that receive the Moderna vaccine will get their second dose. Both the Johnson & Johnson and Moderna COVID-19 vaccine are authorized for use in individuals 18 years of age and older. After getting vaccinated, recipients will be asked to wait at the clinic for a 15-minute observation period before receiving their coupon for a free margarita.
“We are very excited to try this new approach to hosting a vaccine clinic. Our goal is to vaccinate everyone in Crawford County that wants to be vaccinated and we want people to know we are more than happy to set up a clinic at any location, business, industry, or public event,” explains Kate Siefert, Health Commissioner. “Having the support of Dzugan Real Estate Services and Mi Cerrito Mexican Restaurant in making the vaccine easily accessible is an amazing show of confidence that local businesses are eager for more people to get vaccinated so we keep businesses open and continue enjoying our lives.”
Participants should only attend the clinic if they are not currently feeling ill, are not under isolation or quarantine due to COVID-19, and have not received a vaccine of any kind (tetanus, shingles, flu, etc.) within fourteen (14) days of the clinic.
“Whether or not to get vaccinated is a personal choice,” Siefert said. “We encourage participants to consult with their primary care physician or other medical professionals to help them make their own decision. We want people to make an informed decision regarding vaccination based on information provided by a medical professional and not based on hearsay or misinformation.”
Crawford County Public Health has provided over 7,200 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine since December. One tip they offer to those planning on attending the clinic is to download and fill out the consent form ahead of time. This will help you move through the clinic process quicker. The consent form can be found and downloaded from the website: www.crawfordhealth.org under the COVID-19 menu. Another suggestion is to wear clothing that allows for easy access to the upper arm.
If this clinic does not work with your schedule, Crawford County Public Health has other clinics available. To schedule an appointment for a different clinic, please call (419)562-5871.
