GALION — It was a light agenda for Galion City Council on Tuesday evening.

Beginning the meeting with an opportunity for public comments, Bob Cerar requested that the city enforce a flashing stoplight at the intersection of South Market and Atwood streets.

The intersection was the subject of a study to see if the signal needed to be changed or removed. After some weeks of different settings, including a four-way stop, the intersection was put back to its original timing.

Cerar said the light slows down the flow of traffic and takes too long to cycle.

During regular business, council had a first reading of an ordinance to amend the city’s codified ordinances on the reservoirs.

The new amendment would prohibit any boat with a gas-powered engine to operate on any reservoir.

Council agreed it was necessary to protect the public water sources from pollution from gas and oil.
