BUCYRUS—Bucyrus City Council met Tuesday night in council chambers.

Bucyrus City Council Clerk Megan Conley tendered her resignation effective September 1st.

Conley made it clear that she enjoyed her work with the city. She told council that if it were possible, she would have stayed in her position as clerk.

Conley, who got engaged in July, plans to move to Wickliffe to be closer to her fiancé and his family. They’re planning a May wedding.

In other council employment news, outgoing Communications Director John Rostash introduced his replacement.

Bucyrus native Bonnie Welsh will handle the city’s Facebook Page, live streaming, Access TV, and media broadcasting.

Welsh has a degree in Agricultural Communication from The Ohio State University. Welsh comes to the position from her former employment as a front-end Supervisor at Rural King in Marion. Welsh also serves as a 4-H Advisor.

John Rostash will now serve as the Floodplain Administrator for the City of Bucyrus.

In other matters, Councilman Mark Makeever reported that the Bratwurst Festival failed to place the usual four-way stop sign at Lucas and Poplar Streets. Makeever cited the busy truck traffic on the street during festival time as dangerous without the temporary stop signs. He said he took measures to contact the appropriate people to make sure it does t happen next year.

Even though Mayor Reser is on vacation, he left a letter praising the Bratwurst Festival Board for s successful 55th event.

The meeting was adjourned after a recess so council could discuss employment matters in Executive Session.
