From Boston to Baghdad, Tampa to Toronto, The United States Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus have been thrilling audiences of all ages for more than six decades. As the premier touring musical representative for the United States Army, these internationally-acclaimed organizations travel thousands of miles each year presenting a variety of music to enthusiastic audiences throughout the nation and abroad. Through these concerts, the Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus fosters the support of the American people for members of the armed forces and supports diplomatic efforts around the world.

The Community Concert Association and The U.S. Army Field Band & Soldiers’ Chorus are bringing to the Crawford County Area an exciting Free Concert Friday, February 27 at the Bucyrus High School Gymnasium, 900 West Perry St. This concert is open to the public at no charge and will feature a powerful and diverse program of marches, overtures, popular music, patriotic selections and instrumental and vocal solos. The doors will open at 6:30 PM and additional free tickets will be available at the door.

The U.S. Army Field Band is the oldest and largest of the Field Band’s four performing components. The elite 72 member instrumental ensemble, founded in 1946, has performed in all 50 states and 25 foreign countries for audiences totaling more than 100 million.

The Soldiers’ Chorus, founded in 1957, is the vocal complement of the U.S. Army Field Band. The 30 member choral ensemble travels throughout the nation and abroad, performing as a separate component and in joint concerts with the Band.

The combined organization has also performed joint concerts with many of the nation’s leading orchestras, including the Boston Pops, Cincinnati Pops and Detroit Symphony Orchestra. In addition to formal programs, the Concert Band has participated in numerous presidential inaugural parades and balls and supported many diplomatic missions overseas. This is a rare opportunity for our area to witness and enjoy musical presentations of the caliber produced by some of our nation’s best musical artists in uniform.

Concert Association President Chuck Jackson said, “We are indeed fortunate to have both the band and the chorus together in Bucyrus presenting musical excellence and inspiring patriotism!”
