BUCYRUS — The Bucyrus City Council’s Service Committee wanted more information before creating legislation for council to vote on to decide if the city will take over the county’s water and sewer district.
Bucyrus City Service Safety Director Jeff Wagner said during the joint committee meeting Thursday evening that staffing is a concern.
“If we take this over, we need to look at how much staff it will take,” Wagner said. Currently, we have eight to 10 projects in the works already.”
Service committee chair Bruce Truka scheduled a special meeting Aug. 1 at 6 p.m. that will include city supervisors and engineers for the water line expansion project.
During the economic development committee meeting, Crawford County Auditor Joan Wolfe was present to answer questions about the process of creating a new community reinvestment act that may include tax breaks for home owners that improve their properties.
The committee decided to contract with the Poggemeyer Design Group to work out the details at a cost of $7,000. City auditor Joyce Schifer and law director Rob Ratliff agreed to check if monies from a CRA monitoring fund may be used to pay Poggemeyer for the service.
Both the public lands and building and finance committees approved legislation for the auditor to seek bids for repairs at the Aumiller Park Pool. A special council meeting took place to consider the legislation, and council approved it, unanimously.
The service committee approved an amendment of a resolution for airport improvements that will be presented to council at the next meeting Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. Council will meet one day earlier than the normally scheduled date to allow council members to participate in the annual National Night Out.
