NORTH ROBINSON – During its first regular meeting of 2018, the Colonel Crawford School Board of Education dealt with several items to get the new year rolling.

Superintendent Todd Martin updated the board on quotes and bids for several projects.

“The bids for LED lighting for the parking lots are coming in much cheaper than we originally thought they would,” Martin said. “There are several locals submitting bids.”

Martin said quotes for a concrete project in the swimming pool area also are coming in much lower than originally expected.

The original price quoted for rubber flooring to replace carpet in the school’s locker room areas was $17,900.

“Furner’s quoted me a price of $10,000 which is fantastic,” Martin said.

The board approved several items on the agenda including the renewal of insurance policies for the district with USI Insurance Services through the Markel/Wright Specialty Insurance Company at a cost of $25,145.

The board also approved a resolution to employ the IAP Government Service Group as a third-party administrator for the project to repave the district parking and playground areas.

In honor of School Board Recognition Month, Martin commended the board members for their hard work and dedication to the district.

“We appreciate the work you do for our kids,” Martin said.

The next board meeting is Feb. 26 at 7 p.m.
