Representatives from the New Washington area including that village’s EMS attended Wednesday’s Central Joint Ambulance District meeting.

An invitation has been extended and New Washington is considering joining the ambulance district, says Ron Miller.

“Tonight New Washington, Cranberry and Auburn Township were here about possibly joining the District and they are going to go back and talk to their people,” Miller said. “It would be a huge asset to have them in being part of the county, and we hope they join us. We could help them out, they can help us out.”

The potential addition would give the district another ambulance station in the northern part of the county. The process of discussion has started and proceeded to where New Washington could join the CJAD as soon as the village puts it before its Safety Committee and then through The New Washington Village Council at the following meeting or even next year.

All the other townships in the CJAD were asked to cast a vote as to whether or not to place a bid for the next contract renewal. All townships except Jackson, Jefferson and Vernon asked for more time to talk it over.

The Central Joint Ambulance District averaged about 7.5 9-1-1 calls per day for the month of January.
