MARION—On July 3rd at 2:33 am, Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department responded to an emergency call at River Bend Campground located at 1092 Whetstone River Road after receiving a report of an unresponsive female after some kind of fight.

Upon arrival of law enforcement and the First Consolidated Fire Department found the victim, Natalie Rudd, 42, of Marion, was no longer breathing but CPR was in progress. Rudd was found to be suffering from multiple stab wounds.

She was transported to Marion General Hospital, where shortly thereafter, she was pronounced dead.

Witnesses advised officers that the suspect left on a motorcycle. Marion County Deputy John Endicott located the suspect as he was en route to the scene and conducted a traffic stop.

Deputy Endicott took Chadwick Greenawalt, 44, of Marion, into custody.

Greenawalt was transported to Marion General Hospital for treatment for the injuries he sustained in the original incident.

Greenawalt is now in custody at the Marion Multi-County Jail, where he stands charged with involuntary manslaughter.

The case will be presented to the Marion County Prosecutors Office for the filing of formal charges.
