BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—There’s plenty “on tap” at a new business in town that is home to some of the area’s finest brews.
The Bucyrus Taphouse, located at 242 N. Sandusky Avenue, has been serving craft beers since its opening in September. From crisp lagers to bold IPAs, all 22 taps feature handpicked brews, showcasing the best Ohio has to offer.

“We’re rotating all the time,” said Lindsay Marshall, co-owner of the family business along with her father, Tom Kibler. “Different breweries, different beers, so it’s always changing.”
The taphouse proudly serves a local IPA, “El Dorado Red,” brewed in Bucyrus at the Arrogant Goat Brewery, as well as Marengo-based “Konkey Don,” an ale produced at Hoof Hearted Brewery.
Fruit beers, lagers, porters, stouts, and shandies are also on tap. Even the award-winning beer inspired by everyone’s favorite salty snack – “Gettin’ Twisted,” a German pretzel ale manufactured at Third Eye Brewing Company in Cincinnati.

In addition to the tap selection, a variety of domestic beers are on the menu, Marshall said, plus wine, bourbon, handcrafted cocktails, bar snacks, and small charcuteries for patrons to enjoy inside or out.
The building, a former dry goods store dating back to the late 1880s, was vacant when they purchased it seven years ago from Larry Schmidt, Marshall said. “We both just loved the building, and we knew Larry wanted to get rid of it.”
Kibler spearheaded the massive restoration project. He refurbished the massive wood bar and worked his magic tearing up carpet, transforming the original wood floor to its former luster, and adding unique touches throughout.

The establishment has a cozy vibe, anchored by an exposed brick wall that complements the dark wood and rich greens and golds accenting the bar and seating area. “The building’s beautiful because of him,” Marshall said.
Kibler and his wife, Nan, also operate Kibby’s Grill, a food truck that serves burgers, bratwurst, and other fare at the taphouse on weekends. Another draw for customers, Marshall said, is live music and Trivia Night.
“Business has been really good. We’re just happy with the people that come in. It’s a nice environment, very relaxing,” she said. “We’ve never done this before so it’s exciting.”
When the weather is nice, two garage doors open to a patio for outdoor seating. But no matter what time of year, Bucyrus Taphouse is more than a bar. It’s a gathering place “where craft beer meets community.”
