The Bucyrus Platting Committee took steps to eliminate discrepancies in the City code as to the definition of a contractor. This definition is important for determining registration and license requirements.
Two ordinances on the books, 717.01 and 717.02, had different definitions of a contractor. 717.01 defined it as someone who works on lands and buildings, whereas 717.02 only specified buildings. The language in 717.02 has been changed to mirror that of 717.01.
“It signifies that we’re just trying to clear up some discrepancies in the code,” Law Director Robert Ratliff stated after the meeting. “There are some sections where the definitions didn’t really match up so we just want to make sure that the definitions are clear.”
