BUCYRUS―The City of Bucyrus has announced that construction on the six-mile waterline from Bucyrus to the village of Nevada is progressing according to plan. The $1.2 million project, which began in March, is expected to be completed within the next six months.
The waterline will supply clean, Bucyrus water to the neighboring village of Nevada, located in Wyandot County. Bucyrus Mayor Jeff Reser expressed excitement about the project, stating that it will generate more revenue for the city and improve water service and quality of life for residents across the state.
The project is being carried out by Driven Excavating, a Crestline-based company that signed a contract with the City of Bucyrus to begin the project on March 15. The State of Ohio has also provided financial support for the project, awarding Bucyrus an $800,000 H2Ohio grant in September 2022. The grant was announced by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine at Pickwick Place in Bucyrus.
In addition to the funding for the waterline project, Nevada has also received $800,000 in funding to replace existing water lines and construct a new water tower.
