BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Bucyrus Little Theatre (BLT) is inviting the public to celebrate three-quarters of a century of community storytelling during its 75th Anniversary Open House this Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The event, held at the theatre’s longtime home at 130 Songer Avenue, marks a milestone rarely achieved by all-volunteer organizations. The celebration will begin with a ceremonial ribbon cutting hosted by the Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce, followed by an hour of networking and a gallery of vintage production photos.

“Not a lot of theaters manage to persevere that long,” said Abby, a representative for BLT. “It’s an all-volunteer run organization. We don’t pay anybody, and I think that really does help us stand out.”

The afternoon’s formal program includes a presentation by resident historian Tom Edsinger, who will chronicle the theatre’s journey—including its mid-century transformation from a tractor repair shop into a performance space. Attendees will also be the first to hear the announcement of the 2026-27 season lineup.

The milestone has garnered official recognition from the Ohio House of Representatives, the State Senate, and the Crawford County Commissioners. Organizers emphasize that the event is a tribute to the generations of volunteers who have managed everything from stage construction to lighting design.

Admission is free, and the entire community is encouraged to attend the celebration of this local cultural fixture.
