The Bucyrus City Council held an emergency council meeting Monday night to address an urgent issue on Hopley Avenue. A sewer collapsed on Hopley Avenue near the railroad crossing, leaving a giant hole.
“We have to get it fixed right away,” Mayor Jeff Reser said. “We can’t wait until the next (Bucyrus City Council) meeting.”
The Finance Committee called a special meeting Monday night to request legislation for the emergency sewer repair. The Council meeting followed immediately after to authorize work to be completed on the sewer repair and to appropriate funds for the crucial project.
The estimated cost is $84,000 and will be done by Underground Utilities of Monroeville.
