NEWS RELEASE:

BUCYRUS – Members of the Bucyrus City School District Board of Education learned about a new community engagement strategy being developed for the district during its regular monthly meeting Jan. 29.

The presentation was given by Dr. Lisa Riegel, President/CEO of Educational Partnerships Institute, LLC. Dr. Riegel provided board members with an overview of the work her organization has been doing with the district’s administrators to address several major issues within the district.

“Dr. Riegel and her team came to us highly recommended from the Ohio School Board Association,” said Kevin Kimmel, Bucyrus Superintendent. “We are working hard to identify our strengths and areas where we can improve and are excited to see how the district grows.”

The Board of Education appointed Ms. Traci Wetterau to fill an expired term until Dec. 31, 2019. The members also discussed the 2018-2019 school district calendar and are expected to approve a district calendar during the February meeting.

The board recognized Hayley Stratton, a fourth-grade student at Bucyrus Elementary School, for her work in developing the winning Christmas card design.

Board of Education members were also recognized for their service to the district and Bucyrus community.

“Our district is fortunate to have a Board of Education that works closely with parents, education professionals and community members to create the educational vision we want for our students,” said Kevin Kimmel, Bucyrus Superintendent. “On behalf of the students, staff, and community, I would like to thank the Bucyrus City School District Board of Education members for their effort and dedication in providing the leadership for our schools.”

The men and women serving the Bucyrus City School District include: Dr. Paul Johnson (11.5 years), Mr. Adam Stone (6 years), Ms. Traci Wetterau (4 years), Mr. John Kime (1 year) and Mrs. Debra Hoover (newly elected).

The Board of Education approved all items as presented on the agenda. The meeting was then adjourned to executive session with no additional action being taken by the board.

The next regular meeting of the Bucyrus City School District Board of Education will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Administrative Center Thursday, Feb. 22.
