Bucyrus police nabbed two men engaging in a drug transaction over the weekend.
Three men had been taking part in a drug transaction in City Lot 3 near Broadway Alley Sunday morning. Officers charged Kaliq Anwar Pyles, of Marion, with possession of marijuana but a second individual fled on foot.
Police chased the suspect a short way across Washington Square before the man was apprehended. The man initially refused to identify himself and officers took him to the Crawford County jail. The man, later identifying himself as eighteen-year-old Kenneth Donte Rosvanis of Marion, was charged with possession of marijuana, failure to comply and obstructing official business. Rosvanis had been wanted for a felony warrant, nationwide pick-up, out of Marion County. He remains at the Crawford County Justice Center pending a court hearing.
In other police news, officers arrested nineteen-year-old Stephon Keith of Marion Friday afternoon after receiving a report of disorderly and suspicious persons at Bucyrus Elementary. Officers arrested Keith and charged him with possession of marijuana. Keith was issued a minor misdemeanor citation.
Police were busy again of Saturday with numerous unrelated arrests. Officers arrested forty-eight-year-old Thomas Painter of Bucyrus and charged him with domestic violence. Thirty-three-year-old Matthew Lambert of Nevada was arrested in the 600 block of North Sandusky Avenue on a Crawford County warrant. Painter and Lambert were both taken to the Crawford County Justice Center.
Eighteen-year-old Christian Gardner of Nevada was arrested for shoplifting at the Bucyrus Walmart Saturday morning. He was issued a date to appear in court and was released.
Three others were arrested Saturday night on unrelated charges. Officers arrested twenty-eight-year-old Adam Smith of Bucyrus on a Hardin County warrant and Donald Breckenridge on Crawford County warrants. Both men were taken to the Crawford County Justice Center. Anissa Surgener was arrested at Bucyrus Kroger and charged with theft. She was released pending a court appearance.
Fifty-six-year-old Julie Swerlein was arrested Sunday afternoon on a Crawford County warrant. She was released pending a court appearance.
Forty-one-year-old Jason Laney of Bucyrus was arrested on a Crawford County warrant Monday morning and was released pending a court appearance.
Christopher Sprague of Bucyrus had been arrested by Bucyrus police July 22 for passing bad checks. He was held for court.
