According to Mount Gilead Police Chief Brian Zerman, the remains were identified as Skylar Bentley, after an autopsy performed by the Lucas County Coroner’s Office.

Zerman said the cause of death will not be known for approximately 12 weeks until the toxicology report is completed.

He added the investigation by the Mount Gilead Police Department is ongoing.

“We are still following up on some things to make sure there’s nothing more than we already know,” Zerman said. “But, as of now, there is no way to know the cause of death.”

According to previous reports, Skylar’s mother last saw him at approximately 9 p.m. Sunday night, and he was reported missing Monday morning.

Surveillance footage from a Mount Gilead school showed Skylar enter a dumpster on the school’s campus at approximately 5:15 a.m. Monday and a truck is seen emptying the dumpster a few hours later.

Law enforcement officials from Crawford County and the surrounding areas were asked to search the Crawford County landfill Tuesday afternoon and located a body after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The body was not immediately identified.
