An attorney who was convicted earlier this year of sexually assaulting several women was sentenced Tuesday in Franklin County Common Pleas Court.
Judge David Fais sentenced 52-year-old Javier Armengau to 13 years in prison. Armengau, who has law offices in Columbus and Marion and has tried cases in Crawford County including a murder trial, was convicted of rape and kidnapping as well as four counts of sexual battery, two counts of gross sexual imposition and public indecency.
Armengau will be considered a Tier 3 sexual offender upon his release from prison. Armengau was disbarred from practicing law as a convicted felon.
He continued to claim his innocence of all charges even at his sentencing.
