Festivities for the last day of the 46th Annual Bratwurst Festival began early Saturday morning with the 41st annual five-mile Brattie Run at Aumiller Park.

Finishing first out of the estimated 100 runners in the five-mile race was Jesse Armbruster who ran the course in 26:02 beating his next closest competitor by three minutes. Armbruster explained the training that goes behind a good time in distance running.

“You got to do decent long run. Run every day of the week one or two work outs every week; something to mix it up, but you got to be consistent,” said Armbruster, who has now has six Brattie Run titles and the last five straight. “You can’t take a lot of time off think you are going to run a fast race.”

Second place went to Kevin Thomas with a time of 29:25. Kip Kinn wasn’t far behind Thomas running with a time of 29:30. Brandon Layes finished fourth for the men with a time of 29:58. Casey Nichols finished fifth for the men with a time of 30:07.

Sierra Speiker of Orville had the fastest time out of all the females in the race crossing the finish line with a time of 30:29.

Prior to the five-mile race a one-lap around Aumiller Park Fun Run was held for the younger road racers.
