BUCYRUS—On Wednesday afternoon, a ribbon cutting was held for one of Bucyrus’ newest businesses.
Pack & Ship, located at 556 S. Sandusky Ave. in Bucyrus, where Kimmel Corp. used to be like its name suggests, is a company that caters to packaging and shipping needs.
Doug Foght and Duane Watts, the owners of Pack & Ship, have worked together at Watts House of Insurance for seven years and saw the need for a shipping store in Bucyrus and decided to take action.
“I have a lot of experience in packing and shipping already from prior jobs in my life, so I understood a lot about the industry and knew that Amazon had exploited the shipping industry with all their online sales, and then last year with us having the pandemic, that just exploited e-commerce even more to where now almost everything is shipped or mailed and there is not a lot of contact with stores and places like that,” Doug Foght said.
The store currently has pickup times with both UPS and FedEx and is looking to get set up with Amazon and the postal service in the future. Pack & Ship is not a UPS store franchise, so you need a printed label to ship something out from there because the store cannot scan QR codes.
“We can do all of your Amazon returns, we can handle all of your packing and shipping needs, so if you have something that you just need to put in a box and you don’t have a box for it, we have boxes on hand, we have packing material on hand, and we have pre-labeled FedEx and UPS boxes,” Foght said. “We just wanted to offer something right now in the city of Bucyrus because all we have ever had is the post office and a couple of dropbox and drop-off locations. We’ve never actually had a place where you can go in and take care of your shipping item instead of going to a bunch of stores. This is a one-stop-shop.”
Before Pack & Ship, the closest packaging and shipping stores were in Mansfield and Marion.
In the near future, Foght said they are going to start offering notary services. “We’re just trying to do anything we can to fill the gap where we’ve had a gap for a long time. Hopefully, we can do that, and hopefully, we can drive up some interest so we can be here for a while to provide that service.”
The store’s hours are Monday through Friday 8-6 and Saturday 8-2. The last FedEx Express pickup is 4:45 p.m., the last FedEx ground pickup is 4:00 p.m., and the last UPS pickup for the day is 5:10 p.m.
