The Bucyrus High School Athletic Department will host a special recognition ceremony for two very special groups of student-athletes prior to tip-off of the varsity girls basketball game against Buckeye Central Feb. 11.

The recognition will begin with the senior girls playing their last home game in the red and white of Bucyrus. Those ladies being recognized include:
• Ciara Awbrey
• Brianna Greene
• Kristen Orewiler
• Macey Sheerer
• Hannah Wyeth

The other group being recognized is the top scorers of the Lady Redmen basketball program. Each of the 1,000-plus point scorers will be recognized and presented with a white panel basketball with their name, years played and total career points. The ladies being recognized, and their total career points include:
• Natalie Winkelfoos (1995-99) – 1234 career points
• Chelsea Hawkins (2005-09) – 1391 career points
• Kelsee Rehm (2005-09) – 1249 career points
• Macey Sheerer (2009-13) – 1373 (as of Feb. 7)

“We are very excited to not only recognize our senior girls basketball players, but also the top career scorers in program history,” Athletics/Activities Director Tony Rose said. “We hope that these fine individuals will serve as good examples to younger players of what is possible with hard work and dedication.”

We hope you will make plans to attend the final girls basketball home game Feb. 11 to congratulate all these ladies on their athletic accomplishments!
