A tree came out the winner in a car versus tree collision Friday afternoon.
Bucyrus police officers and firefighters responded to an accident around noon Friday after a car crashed into a tree in front of the Bucyrus Historical Society. Police report that an elderly woman was pulling out of the parking lot across the street and intending to head northbound on South Walnut Street. Concerned that she would hit another motorist coming northbound on the street, officers said the woman gassed her car. Her vehicle went over the curb, onto the lawn, and hit the tree.
The woman, whose name was not released at the time of the accident, was transported to the hospital.
