Good news came to Seltzer Street in the Village of Crestline from Washington, D.C. through the office of U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown. Brown announced that new federal resources were awarded to the Crestline Fire Department.

A grant for $92,000 was awarded to the department from the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security. The grant is part of FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighters program. This is round 31 of the competitive Fiscal Year 2012 AFG announcements.

Brown said in a press release, “Our first responders put their lives on the line every day across Ohio. These funds ensure that firefighters in Crestline have the resources they need to perform their jobs safely.”

The grants are given to help firefighters and other first responders purchase protective equipment, vehicles, and gear.
