February is a busy month for the Wynford FFA members.

The Wynford FFA has been actively involved in contests and community service. At the first of the month the Wynford FFA chapter hosted the Crawford County Farm Bureau’s Farmer’s Share Breakfast. The students helped cook and serve to over 600 community members and over $700 was raised for the Crawford County Farm Bureau.

wyn ffa 3Sub – District Public Speaking contest was held at Plymouth High School. Luke Scott placed 2nd in the creed and advanced on to compete at the District contest where he placed fourth. Jacob Hord competed in Prepared speaking at sub-district and placed fourth as well as Annika Gerlach who placed fifth in the extemporaneous speaking contest. Aryn Copeland placed first at sub – district in beginning prepared and second at the district level. Aryn will be competing at the state contest on March 8th.

On February 19th the Job Interview contest was held at Bellevue High school. Freshman Kenzie Kent placed 4th. Loagan Neal came in 4th in the sophomore division and Morgan Hardymon placed 4th in the Junior Division. In the senior contest Alec Miller placed 2nd.

wyn ffa 2District Tractor Trouble Shooting was held at Lorain County JVS on February 20th where Devin Johnson and Cody Russell placed 5th.

National FFA week was February 16-22. There are around 580,000 7-12th grade students enrolled in FFA around the world. The Wynford FFA Chapter celebrated the week with activities such as a corn-hole tournament, leadership games, and an ice cream eating contest. On Friday over 15 tractors were parked in the school’s parking lot for drive your tractor to school day.

Drive your tractor to school day is a salute to all the men and women putting in countless hours feeding the world. The average farmer feeds over 155 people today, in the 1960’s the average farmer fed around 26 people.
