The Wynford School District’s Board of Education welcomed a new board member and set plans for the 2014 fiscal year Monday night during its organizational meeting.
Shortly after the call to order new member Fred Hendricks along with incumbents Debbi Gifford, and Steve Crall were sworn into office. The first piece of business for the new board was to elect its officers. Jeff Schieffer was elected president and Steve Crall was elected vice president of the 2014 year.
Scheiffer addressed the board following his selection.
“I would like to thank fellow board members for the vote of confidence,” Schieffer said. “I would also like to thank each of you for your time committed to the Wynford School District.”
Rhonda Rowland was appointed as the Student Liaison and Gifford was appointed to be Legislative Liaison. Hendricks will join Gifford on the Policy Committee. Crall and Rowland will serve on the Finance Committee and Crall and Jeff Schieffer will be on the Buildings and Grounds Committee.
On top of welcoming in new members and electing officials, the Wynford School Board approved all organizational items for the 2014 year including authorizing the treasurer to pay for all financial obligations as presented subject to approval of the Board; naming the superintendent as purchasing agent for the school district with a maximum of $25,000; and authorizing the superintendent to accept resignations on behalf of the board by employees when the board is not in session.
The Board appointed Bricker and Eckler Attorneys at Law as Legal Counsel for the 2014 calendar year.
Wynford Board members also approved being reimbursed $20 per meeting, along with establishing a Board Service Fund for 2014 with the sum not to exceed $2 per student enrolled in the school district as of the October 2013 count. The funds set aside will be used as a Service Fund to pay board members and their official representatives for expenses.
