Wynford agriculture science teacher Mike Hoffman recognized Paul and Matt Lust during the Wynford Board of Education meeting Wednesday evening for their help installing drainage tiles in the school’s field that students farm.

“Paul is a 1970 graduate of Wynford and Matt graduated in 1998. They volunteered to put drainage tile in the school farm,” Hoffman said.

Hoffman said the tiles have also help alleviate pooling of water in one corner of the school parking lot.

“We really appreciate everything they have done,” Hoffman said.

Paul Lust was at the meeting and presented with a plaque of appreciation by the board and Hoffman before the board got down to business with a presentation on the School Facilities Construction and Improvement Bonds.

Mark Weekly of Robert W. Baird and Company said the school district scored an A+ high-quality bond rating.

“Only 195 out of 405 rated school districts in Ohio are rated higher than the Wynford School District,” Weekly said.

The district received the rating in January after a presentation was compiled by district treasurer Leesa Smith along with Weekly.

The final bond documents have been prepared and the bonds will be funded March 20.

“The district will receive funding for their local share,” Weekly said of the funding that will be used to create a new high school and junior high building and renovate common areas.

The board passed several routine agenda items before hearing from Wynford Superintendent Fred Fox on the issue.

Fox said the field of 11 architecture firms for the project has been narrowed down to three.

“The groundbreaking for the project will be next spring because the architecture process will take about a year,” Fox said.
