The Crawford Park District works hard to provide educational opportunities to the county and one local group definitely took notice.

The Park District had been nominated for the 2013 Ohio State Grange’s Community Service Award by Leesville Grange #2078. Park District Director Bill Fisher accepted the award at the Ohio State Grange Annual Convention in Columbus on Oct. 26, where the organization was honored for its “exemplary volunteer service in the community by an organization.”

The Leesville Grange stated that “the Crawford Park District is an organization that has a lot to offer all ages with a well-rounded variety of educational programs and activities.”

“They’ve been good partners to us,” said Fisher.

The Leesville Grange holds a yearly meeting at the Lowe-Volk Nature Center, complete with a picnic and an informational presentation.

“They appreciate what we do for a varied group of community citizens,” Fisher stated. “That’s one of the great things they really support.”

“It was very humbling and I think important for the Crawford Park District,” said Fisher about accepting the award.

He saw the recognition not only good for the Park District but also for Crawford County as a whole. “Good things are happening in Crawford County,” said Fisher. He was glad that a larger audience was able to see the good that was being done.
