NEWS RELEASE:
Visitors to the Bucyrus High School and Bucyrus Elementary School offices may have noticed a new addition in the form of information kiosks in each main office area.
The kiosks are part of the Bucyrus City School District’s continuing efforts to keep families and the community well-informed about what’s happening in the school district. The kiosks, which are being run using fifth generation iPads, utilize a custom-built Google site managed by Dave Jones, the district’s Technology Director.
“The kiosks feature links directly to the PayForIt login page, PowerSchool parent login page and the information pages for both buildings,” said Jones. “The kiosks have been well received by our parents, and I’ve helped several configure PowerSchool accounts using the devices.”
The kiosks feature links to several surveys designed to help the district deliver pertinent information more efficiently to families and the Bucyrus community. They also have a “How-To” page to assist parents in creating accounts and using the PayForIt and PowerSchool sites. Future updates include the addition of staff directories at each building to assist families and the community in communicating with school personnel.
“I want to commend Mr. Jones for his diligence and work in developing these important assets for our district families,” said Kevin Kimmel, Bucyrus Superintendent. “Our Board of Education has made a commitment to effective communications with our families and community, and this is a great example of their desire to achieve that goal.”
The kiosks are available in both building offices during regular school hours. Please contact Technology Director Dave Jones for more information about the kiosk program at djones@bucyrusschools.org.
