NEWS RELEASE:

Bucyrus Law Director Rob Ratliff is very pleased to announce that Sam Caldwell will be the new City of Bucyrus Victim’s Advocate.  Sam has served the citizens of Bucyrus as a Police Officer for over 26 years.  After announcing his retirement this winter, Sam expressed his interest in continuing to serve the community.

According to Law Director Ratliff, “Sam has tremendous familiarity with our City.  He has spent the past 26 years earning the trust of our citizens as a police officer. Sam knows our local court system, our people, and has first-hand experience with some of the problems families and victims have to deal with in our community. In this new role, he will be a strong voice for businesses, people and children that have suffered the direct impacts of crime.  We are extremely fortunate to have someone like Sam continue his service.”

Sam’s starting date will be in early March, following a well-deserved few months of rest before beginning his new career.

The Bucyrus Victim’s Advocate position is funded through two State of Ohio Grants utilizing both State and Federal funds.  These matching grants provide 85% of the funding for the Victim’s Advocate position.
