UPPER SANDUSKY – A Sycamore man was arrested Sunday afternoon after police responded to a report of a vehicle crashing into the Bridgestone foam plant in Upper Sandusky the same day.

Upper Sandusky Fire Department Capt. Keith Johnson said Bridgestone maintenance employees told him the damage to the facility was estimated at more than $1 million.

Two men reported witnessing 41-year-old Sean Cassaro, a Bridgestone employee, drive his vehicle through an overhead door and into the production area of the Bridgestone foam plant early the afternoon of Jan. 21.

The men said Cassaro briefly spoke to them outside the plant and then abruptly drove into the overhead door.

According to a report by Upper Sandusky Police Officer Andrew Silcox, Cassaro drove his vehicle through the door on the north end of the facility and continued until coming to rest at the south end of the building.

Silcox’s report said the area where the vehicle was found was heavily damaged.

The report says the driver was not with the vehicle when officers arrived, but a driver’s license was found near the scene.

Cassaro, who was identified with the use of the found driver’s license, was found on the scene.

Cassaro was asked to identify himself, but responded that he did not know his name. It was at that time that Cassaro was arrested.

Cassaro was evaluated by Wyandot County Emergency Medical Services and transported to Wyandot Memorial Hospital.

Cassaro was given medical tests at the hospital and was medically cleared and released to be transported to the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office.

He was charged with third-degree felony vandalism.
