The free throw line proved costly to the Wynford Royals Thursday in a two-point overtime loss at Ridgedale. Wynford dropped to 2-1 on the season following the 77-75 defeat.
Wynford fought from behind most of the evening after the Rockets opened a nine-point advantage at the end of the first quarter. But the difference was at the free throw line late in the game as the Royals went eight of 13 from the line in the fourth period and overtime compared to Ridgedale’s 10 of 15.
Glowaski led the Royals with 24 points and 16 rebounds. Davis and Pfeifer were also in double figures with 13 and 11 points respectively.
The Rockets placed five in double figures led by Ellis’s 16 points. Gordon added 15, and Caudill 12.
Wynford is in action Saturday night at home against Shelby. The program will mark its 50 years of boys basketball that evening. The JV game begins at 5 p.m.
In games involving other teams in the area, Colonel Crawford won at Northmor, 73-56, to run its record to 3-0. Galion lost its season opener at North Union, 46-43.
