Press Release:
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office participates in Operation Medicine Cabinet and other collection programs that protect children, water and food supplies, and decreases prescription drug abuse by making it easier for people to properly dispose of unused or expired medication.
National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is Saturday. Local residents can bring their unwanted or expired prescription pills of any kind, over-the-counter medications, medication samples, pet medications and vitamins to the Sheriff’s Office, located at 3613 Stetzer Road, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Please remove all prescription labels before arriving.
Items that will not be accepted include needles, syringes, lancets, thermometers, aerosol cans, IV bags, hydrogen peroxide, empty containers, personal products such as non-medicated shampoos, and bloody or infectious waste.
The program is completely confidential and no personal information will be collected. According to the Sheriff’s Office, staff will be in the lobby to assist people as they drop off their unwanted items.
