Redmen drop heart-breaker to Upper Sandusky

BUCYRUS — Despite racking up 362 yards of total offense, Bucyrus only crossed the goal line twice and the result was a 20-14 loss to Upper Sandusky in a Northern 10 Conference game.

The Redmen scored first on a 41-yard pass from Ben Seibert to Gram Dick to grab a 7-0 lead. The Rams answered when Nate McMillan ran 10 yards for a score and Mason Vent ran in the two-point conversion, giving Upper Sandusky (2-5, 1-3 N10) an 8-7 lead, which was also the score at halftime.

Bucyrus (1-6, 1-4) took a 14-8 lead when Seibert hooked up with Harley Robinson on an 8-yard scoring pass midway through the third period.

McMillan tied the game at 14-14 on a 14-yard run at 6:59 of the third period. It stayed that way until Vent ran nine yards for a score with 3:13 left to give the Rams the 20-14 lead.

The Redmen made it into the red zone on the final drive but ultimately turned the ball over on downs.

McMillan paced Upper Sandusky, rushing for 172 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns. He also caught four passes for 130 yards. Vent was four for 11 for 130 yards passing and rushed for 66 yards and a score.

Seibert completed 15 of 24 passes for 214 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception. Dick caught six balls for 121 yards and Robinson had seven catches for 78 yards. Devin Newland ran for 87 yards on 19 carries.

Seneca East rallies past Mohawk to stay unbeaten

ATTICA — Seneca East came back from a 21-17 deficit when D.J. Ruffing caught a 54-yard touchdown pass from Chase Foos with 45 seconds left to defeat Mohawk, 24-21, in an N10 contest.

Keith Jenkins had put the Warriors ahead when he connected with Jesse Leeth on a 13-yard scoring pass with 1:51 left, setting the stage for the Seneca East (6-0, 4-0) comeback.

Tyler Turek gave the Tigers a 10-7 lead at halftime by connecting on a 35-yard field goal as time expired. The three points proved to be the winning margin.

Jenkins completed eight of 23 passes for 108 yards for Mohawk (5-2, 3-2). Foos passed for 244 yards for the Tigers, completing 14 of 27 passes for three touchdowns. Ruffing caught five for 88 yards.

Carey blanks Buckeye Central

CAREY — Carey held Buckeye Central to 83 yards of total offense while the Blue Devils’ offense finished with 439 yards, handing the Bucks a 45-0 N10 shutout.

Brayden Wentling complete 13 of 16 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns for Carey (6-1, 4-1).  Six different players scored for the Blue Devils.

Max Loy threw for 60 yards, hitting on three of 17 passes for Buckeye Central (0-7, 0-4). Avery Baldosser caught  one pass for 47 yards.

State-ranked Clear Fork shuts out Galion

GALION — Clear Fork rolled up 34 first-half points then coasted to a 41-0 Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference win over the Galion Tigers.

Galion (4-3, 2-3 MOAC) only managed 116 yards of total offense. Harrison Ivy connected on five of 19 passes for 48 yards.
