Pleasant shuts out Bucyrus

PLEASANT TOWNSHIP — Pleasant rushed for 338 yards on 38 carries and the Spartan defense kept Bucyrus out of the end zone to secure a 51-0 non-conference victory.

Twelve different players had at least one carry for Pleasant (3-0) and six of them scored a touchdown.

Matt Chase led the way with 73 yards on seven carries with a touchdown. Alex Valentine rushed six times for 49 yards and a score.

Avery Wolfe, Carter Wolf, Joshua Lambert and Patrick Blubaugh also ran for scores. Blubaugh added a touchdown on a 49-yard punt return. The Spartans threw the ball just twice, both of which were incomplete.

Sophomore quarterback Ben Seibert led Bucyrus (0-3) by completing 13 of 31 passes for 109 yards. He was intercepted once. Gram Dick caught 10 balls for 99 yards. Pleasant also scored a safety when Seibert stepped out of the back of the end zone while passing.

The Redmen were stymied on the ground, however, with a net minus-49 yards rushing, most as the result of quarterback sacks. Devon Newland finished with 22 yards on six carries.

Galion shuts out Portsmouth to remain unbeaten

GALION — The Tigers’ defense posted its second shutout in three games with a 23-0 whitewash of Portsmouth in a non-league contest.

Harrison Ivy had an 11-yards touchdown run and Isaiah Alsip kicked a 21-yard field goal as Galion (3-0) built a 9-0 first-quarter lead.

The score held up until the fourth quarter when Ivy scored on a 15-yard run and then hooked up with Takoda Crisman on a 22-yard scoring pass, to set the final score.

Ivy was seven of 18 passing for 48 yards and a score. Additionally, rushed for 156 yards on 22 tries.

For Portsmouth (1-2), Kelly completed 10 of 29 passes for 72 yards, but was intercepted twice. Carter caught five passes for 42 yards.

Mohawk holds off Colonel Crawford

NORTH ROBINSON — Mohawk jumped out to a 34-6 lead then held on for a 34-20 Northern 10 Conference victory over Colonel Crawford.

Keith Jenkins had scoring passes of 5, 21 and 7 yards, all to Zach Hayman and added a 1-yard run for the Warriors. Parker Brown scored from the one to give Mohawk (3-0, 2-0 N10) a four-touchdown lead.

Hayden Bute’s 34-yard run in the second quarter was the only score for the Eagles in the first half.

Colonel Crawford (1-2, 0-2) scored on a 65-yard pass from Bute to Kaleb Landin and a 1-yard run by Trevor Shawber in a span of 3:43 in the fourth period to trim the deficit to 14, bot could get no closer.

Jenkins completed 14 of his 22 passes for 179 yards and three scores. Brown ran for 74 yards on 18 carries, good for a touchdown. Hayman grabbed five passes for 57 yards.

Bute was 11 of 20 for 113 yards and a score. Shawber rushed for 63 yards on 18 attempts and Landin caught five passes for 94 yards and a touchdown.

Seneca East rolls over Buckeye Central

ATTICA — Seneca East (2-0, 1-0) scored 28 points in the second quarter to create a 42-0 bulge at halftime and went on to defeat Buckeye Central (0-3, 0-2), 63-0, in an N10 game.

Quarterback Chase Foos connected on nine of 10 passes for 234 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Tigers. Jacob Siesel had a 78-yard touchdown run. Brock Martin had 69 yards on seven carries and three scores. Bo Smith caught two passes for 64 yards, one of which was a 23-yard touchdown.

Avery Baldosser ran for 44 yards on 13 carries for the Bucks. Brady Kerschner and Max Loy combined to complete four of 12 passes for 31 yards and two interceptions.
