June K. Hunter, 70, of Mansfield, passed away Friday, August 18, 2017 at her home. June slipped away in her sleep and went home to the hills of her native West Virginia. June’s health had been in decline for the past 2 years.

June was born in Clear Creek, WV on May 31, 1947 and was the daughter of the late Christopher and Nonearl (Miller) Burgess.

June has lived in the Mansfield area since moving here in 1984 from Charleston, WV. She worked as a secretary. June was a member of the Cook Road Baptist Church, Mansfield. June always treasured the values and morals given her by her parents when she was raised on the family farm. June has been a member of Alcoholics Anonymous since November 13, 2009.

She is survived by: her former spouse, with whom she made her home, Michael Hunter, her step daughters: Jody and Jeremy Logan, Signal Mountain, TN, Amy and Tim Mount, Chattanooga, TN; five step-grandchildren: Jade Logan, Joslin Logan, Kyle Mount, Ryan Mount, Noah Mount; her three brothers: Raymond Miller, Mountain Home, ID, Russell and Mary Ann Burgess, Montcoal, WV, Jimmy and Lois Burgess, Waverly, NY and sisters-in-law Phyllis Burgess, Beckley, WV, Lulabelle Burgess, Farmington, WV,  and her sisters Del Wood, Beckley, WV and Connie and Lonnie Maynor, Beckley, WV. June is survived by 36 nieces and nephews and a whole “holler-full” of great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister Betty Brookover and brothers Thomas Burgess, Wilson Burgess, and Sebert Burgess.

Friends may call on Tuesday August 22, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 West Main Street, Crestline, OH 44827.  Funeral services will begin at 6:00 at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Ronald A. Kline officiating. June will be taken home to West Virginia and buried with her family at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, WV.

Graveside services will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Care for June in West Virginia will be completed by her nephew and Funeral Director, David Wood, II of Tankersley Funeral Home, Mullens, WV.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hull Veterinary Hospital, 1300 Middle Bellville Road, Mansfield, OH, 44904. June wanted to make care possible to pets who are in need.
