BUCYRUS – The Bucyrus City School District Board of Education held a special meeting with two agenda items Monday, May 15.

The board first voted to ratify a new three-year contract with the Bucyrus Education Association. The contract will run through July 31, 2020.

“I want to thank our teachers for working together with us to reach an amicable agreement,” said Board President Brad Murtiff. “We have great teachers who work hard every day to help Bucyrus students reach their maximum potential.”

The second item involved the head boys basketball coaching position. The board passed a resolution to officially open the search for a new coach.

“We are initiating a state-wide search for the next Redmen boys basketball coach,” said Superintendent Kevin Kimmel. “Our goal is to hire a well-qualified candidate who can lead our student-athletes toward success in and out of the classroom.”

The next regular meeting of the Board of Education will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Lincoln Administrative Center Thursday, May 25.
