Bucyrus Elementary School is proud to announce that Taisha Spears, a fifth grader at BES, is the winner of the Masonic Jurisdiction Essay contest for Family Life Week. Taisha and one other student were asked to participate in the competition.
In her essay, Taisha discussed how her life would not be the same without her parents, sister and her dog Pixie. Taisha was honored in a ceremony at the Masonic Temple where she received a plaque and a $200 prize that will be used in the classroom.
“Essay contests are beneficial to our students because they help promote the use of critical thinking skills,” fifth grade Language Arts teacher Leah Barger said. “They also help students develop strong writing abilities. Both of these skills lead to success in school and beyond.”
Principal Todd Roll speaks for all of Bucyrus Elementary when he said, “Our school is extremely proud of Taisha’s demonstrated writing talent, learned skills, and initiative in entering her essay.”
