The Brush and Palette Art Gallery kicked off the opening of its spring show with an open house on May 7.

The gallery hosts a spring show every year and used Sunday’s opening to celebrate its second anniversary. The show featured art from the members of the gallery, and even the members who didn’t contribute attended to show support and celebrate. Also on display were prints of the paintings and handmade jewelry and pottery. Refreshments were provided, and there was no shortage of good conversation with the kind women involved.

Artists featured were Mary Haley-Rocks, Louise Bergquist, Joan Garverick, Carol Kable, Naomi Rogers, Carolyn Kelley, Della Kaple, Sylvia Keith, Shirley Fearn, and Diane Bell.

The Brush and Palette Art Gallery is a nonprofit organization that hosts shows, offers classes, and accommodates the wants of the people.

“There is no background necessary to take a class. You don’t have to be a seasoned artist to have fun,” said Kaple.

The club has 35 to 40 members, but there is no limit to who can join. The club has classes for people of all ages, with no lack of genres. Though they’re mostly focused on painting, they also offer classes in drawing, calligraphy, paper mache, jewelry making, and photography.

Another artist and member, Sylvia Keith, said, “Many people have a lot of inner creativity and don’t even realize it until they take a class.”

The Brush and Palette Art Gallery is located at 114 Harding Way East (rear) and operates from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. The Spring Show will run until June 30. The next open house will take place from 2 – 4 p.m. on June 4.
