Forty-five-year-old Angela Chatman, of rural Bucyrus, entered guilty pleas in on two counts of drug possession, both fifth-degree felonies, in Crawford County Common Pleas Court. She was placed on community control for five years and was ordered to complete a drug and alcohol assessment. Judge Sean Leuthold also fined her $1,250.
Skyler Sopher faced the nice side of Leuthold as he pleaded guilty to felony 5 theft. Though the judge chided the 26-year-old Bucyrus man for taking advantage of a nice person and smoking marijuana, he also warned Sopher to keep to the straight and narrow.
Sopher’s guilty plea will be held until he successfully completes his two-year intervention program. He also handed over a check for $2,436, the full amount of restitution in his case.
Twenty-five-year-old Mariah Horner, of rural Bucyrus, appeared in court for an initial hearing on community control violations. County probation officer Eric Bohach alleged that Horner consumed alcohol on April 1 and admitted to consuming alcohol on April 3.
“If you drink, you get drunk and if you get drunk your judgment goes to hell,” Leuthold said as he explained his strong stance against drinking while on probation. “I don’t want you sliding back down into something worse.”
Leuthold appointed Tani Eyer as Horner’s attorney and released her on a personal recognizance bond.
Horner originally pleaded guilty to drug possession and trafficking in 2016 and served six months in the county jail.
