The Buckeye Central Bucks extended their season Tuesday night by ending the Plymouth Big Red’s season in the Division IV sectional semi-finals in Sandusky.
Scoring the game’s first three points and winning the points battle in the first Plymouth led Buckeye 18-11 after one. The second quarter the Big Red outscored the Bucks 16-13 to take a ten point lead into the half 34-24.
Buckeye Central came out of the locker room from the half and turned the tables on the Big Red outscoring them 18-14 in the third. The Bucks went on a 13-7 run in the fourth quarter to tie the game up at 55. With under half a minute to play the Big Red committed their second to last faux pas of the game committing an offensive foul with 13 seconds to go in regulation. With four seconds to go Dalton Sheaffer was fouled taking the Buck to the line for two free throws. Sheaffer, who hadn’t missed a foul shot the entire game, missed the first shot to keep the game knotted up. He sunk the second one to give the Bucks the 56-55 lead to close out the game.

The Bucks lived by the free throw, knocking down 14 of 15 in the first half, and 21-25 for the game.
Plymouth would go 4-5 from the charity stripe.
The Bucks featured three players scoring in double digits. Leading the way for all scorers was Jacob Shade’s game high of 18 points. Sheaffer would add 16 points with 11 of those points coming from free throws. Max Loy contributed 13 points.
With the win the Bucks improve to 10-13 on the season and will play St. Paul in the sectional finals at 8 p.m. on Friday.
The Big Red were led by Jared Reed’s 14 points. Austin Nester contributed 12.
Plymouth finishes the season 5-17.
