Another seat has opened up for the Galion City Council. Councilman Andrew Daniels announced his resignation in a letter to Galion City Council President Don Faulds on Oct. 18, 2013.
Daniels stated that he would no longer meet the residency requirements for the position of 1st Ward City Council member. He recommended appointing 1st Ward candidate Eric Webber to the position.
Daniels had been running as the incumbent for the 1st Ward seat against Webber in the upcoming election. With Daniels dropping out of the race and tendering his resignation, Webber is the lone man up for the position.
Daniels’ letter to Faulds can be read in its entirety below:
Don Faulds, Galion City Council President
October 18th, 2013
Dear Don,
I hearby resign my position as 1st Ward City Council effective 12:00 midnight on October 18th, 2013. As of October 19th, 2013, I will no longer meet the residency requirements for the position.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Members of Council and the Community for allowing me to briefly service [sic] on council.
I would strongly recommend an immediate appointment of the incoming 1st Ward City Council candidate elect Mr. Eric Webber to provide continuity of representation.
Sincerely,
Andrew J. Daniels
