For adults looking to change careers or make themselves more attractive in a competitive job market, there are still opportunities at Pioneer this fall. Pioneer Career & Technology Center Adult Education is currently registering students for fall classes in Welding Technology and the State Tested Nurse Aid program.
Looking for a new skill to boost your technical know-how? Welding classes at Pioneer can help you do just that!
During classroom instruction, you will learn:
• Specialize or learn a combination of welding processes
• Gain hands-on experience in all welding positions & metals
• Safety & related instruction
• Introductory and advanced classes are offered as a full-time course or as part-time classes.
Pioneer prepares you for and administers American Welding Society (AWS) certification tests for SMAW/GMAW/GTAW.
Tests are administered at Pioneer and sent to Total Quality for certification. Tests start at $150 per test and can be scheduled from 5–9:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, throughout the school year.
Applicants are required to have a High School or GED Diploma.
All program costs include:
• Textbooks and lab fees
• Helmet, jacket & gloves
• Safety glasses
• Related tools
• Certification test(s)
Financial aid programs are available to qualifying students who enroll in full-time training programs.
We also offer FREE welding sessions to help individuals experience what it is like to weld and discover if this exciting career may be right for you! All equipment is provided. The next FREE session will be held October 20, 2016 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. All are welcome!

Pioneer Career & Technology Center Adult Education is currently registering students for fall classes in our State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA) program. Would you like to provide nursing-related services to patients or residents in a long-term care or acute care facility? This program is for you!
This 87 hour STNA program will train you for a CNA (Certified Nurse Aide) position with the opportunity to test for STNA (State Tested Nurse Aide) certification plus a 7 hour class for certification in Heartsaver First Aid & Healthcare Provider CPR/AED Certification. This program also includes 16 hours of clinical experience.
During STNA classroom instruction, you will learn:
• Communications & interpersonal skills
• Infection Control
• Safety and emergency procedures
• Basic nursing skills
• Personal care skills
• Mental health and Social service needs
• Basic restorative services
• Residents’ rights
Program costs include textbooks, classroom materials, cost of the State Tested Nurse aide examination, Heartsaver First Aid, Healthcare Provider CPR/AED training and certification, Two-Step Mantoux TB test and WorkKeys assessments. Total tuition must be paid prior to enrollment.
Program Requirements:
• A scrub shirt & pants* for clinical experience
• A Two-Step Mantoux TB test* that is current within 30 days of clinicals
• Must have started the Hepatitis B series*
• Perfect attendance
• Physical exam* less than 1 year
• Orientation will be held prior to start of class
*Costs for scrubs shirt & pants, Hepatitis series and physical exam are not included
**Students are required to take three WorkKeys assessment tests: Applied Math, Locating Information, and Reading for Information
