The Galion Planning Commission didn’t waste time in approving the preliminary plans for the Sleep Inn Hotel Friday afternoon.

The preliminary plans for the hotel were put on hold after Planning Commission member Eric Kent requested time to look over the documents on Thursday. Friday afternoon, Kent, along with Mayor Tom O’Leary, and Planning Commission chairperson Sharon Baldinger wasted no time in approving the plans with a 3-0 vote.

An application of the final plat will now have to be submitted to a code inspector before going before the Galion Platting Commission to approve the final plat. Once the Platting Commission approves the plat, city council will have to accept the public rights of way and easements.

Prior to approving the hotel plans, the planning commission discussed approving the change to the outdoor dining ordinance. Galion Law Director Thomas Palmer shot down moving forward with the ordinance change due to not including the outdoor dining ordinance within the announcement for Friday’s meeting.
