BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The excitement for this Friday’s homecoming game is reaching a fever pitch, but this year, the spirit of the game goes beyond the scoreboard. In a heartwarming display of community strength,
Bucyrus and Wynford are joining forces to show unwavering support for one of our own: Bucyrus native, BHS alumnus, and Channel 6 meteorologist, Marshall McPeek, as he battles sarcoma.
Marshall McPeek is an Emmy award-winning, longtime Columbus meteorologist and journalist.
Marshall grew up in Bucyrus, (the Bratwurst Capital of the World) and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ohio University’s Honors College with a degree in journalism. He received his meteorology training from Mississippi State University and has earned the American Meteorological Society’s prestigious designation as a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM #501).
Marshall started his broadcast career in Bucyrus at WBCO-AM/WQEL-FM when he was just 14 years old. Since then, Marshall has worked for TV stations in Toronto, Cleveland, Southern Illinois, Toledo, and Columbus. Many Central Ohio viewers may remember his 11-year stint co-hosting the weekend-morning broadcasts on, ahem, another local station.
To honor Marshall and show him that the entire community is in his corner, both teams will be distributing yellow ribbons at the game. Be sure to arrive early to grab yours while supplies last!
What makes this effort truly special is the incredible partnership between our two schools. We are proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our neighbors whose football team, cheerleaders, and band members will also be wearing yellow ribbons to join us in this show of solidarity.
We look forward to the day that Marshall will returns to forecasting our weather and we wish him only sunny skies ahead.
