GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Organizers have canceled the 2026 Galion Pickle Run Festival, which was scheduled for July 3-4, citing forecasted extreme heat.

After closely monitoring weather forecasts, organizers said they made the decision to prioritize the safety and well-being of volunteers, vendors, entertainers and the thousands of families who attend the festival each year. With temperatures and heat index values expected to reach hazardous levels, organizers said it would be unsafe to proceed with the event.

“This decision was not made lightly,” a festival spokesperson said. “We understand that many in the community were looking forward to celebrating with us, and we share in that disappointment. However, the health and safety of everyone involved must come first to help prevent heat-related illnesses.”

Organizers thanked volunteers, sponsors, vendors and entertainers for their support and acknowledged the time and effort they invested in preparing for the festival.

They also wished the community a safe and enjoyable Independence Day weekend and thanked residents for their understanding.
