BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Wynford Local School District Board of Education focused heavily on finances, staffing, and leadership needs during its June meeting Monday night.
Elementary Assistant Principal Brad Powers reported that 184 students were recognized through the PBIS program over the past seven months. He also highlighted a fifth‑grade citizenship initiative in which students learned flag etiquette and were responsible for raising and lowering the American flag each day.
Two district residents raised concerns about leadership and spending.
Lori Rindfuss Adams urged the board to take its time selecting a new superintendent, saying the district needs someone with “a backbone” who is committed to the community.
Greg White criticized administrative salaries amid cuts in the elementary building. He said the bus superintendent makes around $100,000 per year, some principals make $100,000 and up, the superintendent made $141,000 last year, which he noted was an increase from the year prior, and the treasurer makes $117,000. White said more aides are needed in the elementary building so students can have art, library, computer, and music classes next year.
The board approved a resolution to place the same earned income tax proposal that failed in May back on the November ballot, as required under Ohio Revised Code 5705.219.
Discussions on pay‑to‑participate fees, school fees, and revenue options were postponed again due to Superintendent Forrest Trisler’s continued absence for family reasons. Board members said they want guidance from Trisler or the next superintendent before making decisions.
The next board meeting is July 8 at 5:30 p.m.
