NEW WASHINGTON (Crawford County Now) — And the beat goes on for Mohawk.

Head coach Mindy Walton’s squad ripped Hopewell-Loudon 11-0 in 5 innings to capture its latest Division VII district championship here Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Warriors (24-3) advance to regional play to take on Gibsonburg, a 10-1 winner over Monroeville, at Findlay High School at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

It marks their second straight trip to regionals. Last year Mohawk made it to the state semifinals in Akron.

Aubrey Gottfried had a big afternoon, banging out 3 hits and driving in 4 runs while also throwing a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts in 5 innings.

She added a double and a single.

The junior ace has 261 Ks on the season. It’s her second straight gem in the district tournament, fanning the same number against Lucas on Wednesday night.

Mara Haynes also homered for Mohawk. Emily Brickner and Katie Woodland each had 2 hits for the Lady Warriors.

Araceli Velasquez (5 SO, 1 W) took the loss for the Chieftains, who committed two errors.

Hopewell-Loudon ends its season at 13-14.
