BUCYRUS (Crawford County Now) — The 60th Bill Rahm Invitational continued into its second weekend at Suburban Lanes and the two finalists emerged.
Joel Butt represents the winners’ bracket and Mike Lear came out of the losers’ bracket. They will meet for the championship on February 28.
The weekend started with 16 bowlers and was reduced to the finalists after bowling sessions on Saturday and Sunday.
In the winners’ bracket on Saturday, Mike Lear beat Bob Lear, Jr., 959-803, while Butt got by Joe Powers, 954-838.
In the losers’ bracket first session, Mitch Long eliminated Eric Baldinger, 970-932 and Don McLaughlin dropped Dave Shock from the field, 825-766.
In the second session, Bob Lear, Jr. edged Long 900-886 and McLaughlin slipped past Powers, 889-863. Long and Powers left the tournament.
On Sunday, Butt secured his spot in the finals, winning a close match with Mike Lear, 933-892.
In the losers’ bracket, McLaughlin knocked out Bob Lear, Jr., 890-827. Then, Mike Lear took out McLaughlin, 941-894, to survive the losers’ bracket and take his place in the finals.
The championship match will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
