MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Richland Academy of the Arts (RAA) has opened registration for “StrongHER TogetHER,” a new, free program aimed at supporting the mental and physical health of young female athletes in Richland County.
The program consists of five standalone workshops designed for athletes ages 12–18 and their female parents or guardians. Funded by a grant from the Women’s Fund of the Richland County Foundation, the series addresses the unique stresses faced by young women in competitive environments.
“Knowing how hard our dancers work not just in the studio but at school… makes this program relevant not just for dancers, but all young female athletes,” said Sarah Horrigan-Ramos, RAA Dance Department Chair. “Moms and guardians are often searching for words and tools to help their daughters navigate their teenage years and their chosen sport.”
The workshops will be led by psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner Amanda Miller and clinical counselor Jacy Warrick. Participants will also collaborate with physical therapists from OhioHealth and dietitians from Ashland University, in partnership with Idea Works Kitchen.
The sessions are scheduled for Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Richland Academy of the Arts on the following dates:
- Feb. 7: Leadership & Physical Wellness
- Feb. 21: The “Comparison Trap” & Art in Motion
- March 7: Hormonal Roles in Mental Health & Nutrition
- March 21: Anxiety & Yoga
- April 11: Navigating Relationships with Parents, Coaches, and Friends
While the program is free, registration is required through the Academy’s website. Participants must reside in Richland County, and a female parent or guardian must participate alongside the student.
