The Galion Tigers swam against Mansfield Senior last evening, Jan. 4, at the Galion YMCA.
The Lady Tigers won 43-35 while the Tiger Men won 65-22. Allison DeNero led the Lady Tigers with wins in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly. Bri Wallis won the 50 freestyle and was second in the 500 freestyle. Freshman Sari Conner won the 100 freestyle and was second in the 200 yard freestyle. Alexis Link was second in the 100 yard breaststroke.
The Tiger Men were led by Eli Skaggs and Sam Rigdon; both were double winners. Skaggs won the 200 IM and the 100 yard freestyle while Rigdon won the 50 freestyle and the 100 yard breaststroke. Freshman Clay Karnes was first in the 500 freestyle and second in the 100 yard butterfly. Luke Eisnaugle had a pair of seconds in the 200 IM and 100 yard backstroke. Luke’s backstroke was a personal best with a time of 1:04.79. Lucas Conner was second in the 50 freestyle with a personal best of 25.39. Lucas was second in the 500 yard freestyle. Gideon Johnson was second in the 100 yard breaststroke.
“I was proud of the swimmer’s performance coming off the holiday break and a big meet last weekend,” said swim coach Ted Temple. “We will be getting ready for the MOAC Championships and the Sectional and District tournaments.”
On Jan. 6, the Galion swim team will compete against Bucyrus at the Bucyrus YMCA. The D II Invitational will be held at the Marion YMCA on Jan. 9.
